The artificial intelligence features offered within the scope of Apple Intelligence began to be available with the iOS 18.1 update. In this context, the company is now including Apple Intelligence features in its CarPlay service. Accordingly, it wants to make driving safer.

With iOS 18.1, Siri in CarPlay is getting a new interface available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The old Siri interface is replaced by a more modern design that covers the entire CarPlay screen and is compatible with Apple devices. Siri’s voice is also changing thanks to Apple Intelligence. This provides a clearer and more natural audio experience.

One of the most notable innovations in CarPlay is the smart notification filtering feature. Accordingly, iOS 18.1 introduces the Reduce Disturbances focus mode. This feature uses artificial intelligence to determine which notifications are truly urgent and only allows those notifications to interrupt the focus modes.

Users can also enable smart filtering for any specific focus mode in Settings, so drivers can receive only the most important notifications and mute the rest while staying focused on the road. Notifications deemed less urgent by Apple Intelligence are filtered out.

While autonomous driving is still a long way from becoming widespread, such updates aim to reduce distraction through machine learning integrations.
